The Art of the Start : Make Meaning


Seeing myself as a technopreneur ignites my will to become a successful
business woman someday, I am so inspired and enlightened of the Mr. Guy Kawasaki’s
speech and impartation of wisdom as a successful business person because for me
I believe that being an Information Technology Student is not just a dreamer that is
just stuck in seeing oneself to graduate with a degree course.

I have learned that as a technopreneurship or business woman the
most important thing of being a technopreneur is that the CORE and the
ESSENSE of it, is about MAKING MEANING or making something different. When
we say the core or the essence it is the attribute or set of
attributes that make an object or substance what it fundamentally is, and which
it has by necessity, and without which it loses its identity. Essence
is contrasted with accident: a property that the object or substance has contingently,
without which the substance can still retain its identity.

Yes it is true, many people or business man Starts Company to make
money. They are making money without knowing if the business or the company
that they have been established can’t / can benefits and help or
suits to the needs of the community. It is more important to know that we
as a future technopreneur or business man/woman someday we must think
beyond of what we are now, something that can make people a track or chase us or our business because of the quality and the accuracy of it.

The business or those companies that are fundamentally or
primarily founded to change and modify the world, to make the world a better
place and make meaning of it of the company or the business
that makes a difference they are the companies to succeed.
Companies that are so bold, are the one who stands in the end,
other company are just ruled by money are those easy to be tear down and wipe out.

Mr. Guy Kawasaki Naïve and Romantic Belief: “if you make meaning,
you'll probably make money but if you set out to make money and you
will probably not to make meaning and you wont make money.”
All we need to do as a business man/woman or a technopreneur is that
thinking a business that are suits and make people happy and making fun
of it, your business or something gadgets. And let money will go with the flow, money
it is not that hard to get, if you do have your bright mind and ideas or
inventions then everything will go with the flow. In an authority of GOD, let the will
of GOD will be done here in this world and in our life because apart from him
we can do nothing and we are all nothing. So let us make something that can
help the people and at the same time can honor and glorify GOD all the way.
To change the Nothing into Something, Nobody into Somebody, and from ZERO to a HERO!



1. Make Meaning

Focus on making meaning, not money. If your vision for
your company is to grow it just to flip it to a large company or to take it
public and cash out, "you're doomed". Kawasaki says that great companies
are built around one of three kinds of meaning:

Increase the quality of life.
Make people more productive or their lives easier or more enjoyable. The term
quality of life is used to evaluate the general well-being of
individuals and societies.

Right a wrong.
A variant on the above. Be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem.
I've got a right to be wrong My mistakes will make me strong,
I can't turn back I'm on a mission : The Spirit to success.

Prevent the end of something good.
Preserve something classic or historical. Save the whales.

Walking....while Thinking..


What is walking best described for? according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walking,
Walking is the most basic and common mode of transportation and is recommended for
a healthy lifestyle, and has numerous environmental benefits. Many people walk as
a hobby, and in our post-industrial age it is often enjoyed as one of the best forms of exercise.




But Actually this Activity helps us be creative and resourceful enough to think and
to imagine new opportunities in creating business. I thought walking is just a form and means
of transportation and exercise for health benefits but to my surprise, walking is also
a helpful means for realizing. As you walk you realize the things you wanted to do, how to
deal with your surpassing problems and amazingly walking also is a great way for meditating.
As i walk along the streets, the people interacting with each other, the scenarios you are
staring at that catches your attention opens the gate for Technopreneur opportunities.

As I am walking along the road (I mean long long road), i saw many things but so hard for me to think of
some new business that will help the needs of the people in the community.
Hard to think specially when you're not that inclined with business chever...ahahy

I saw many interesting scenarios as i was walking along the Pag-asa road of Buhangin
down to our Chruch (Buhangin Community Church). Most of all this road along torres
street in Obrero, Davao city (Actually wherever You go) Many people are looking
for their so-called "LUCK" in lottery in PCSO. It's just heartrending to know that every
peso that the people or this community or this country I should say, are squandering much
of their effort,time and money in spending such for gambling, Legal Gambling rather,
That each of them put their trust on Risks!! what a nonsense!! and waste!! I hope they
should realize that if that money of them were spend to much greater good which is to
put up some legal business or to be saved for better use than to spend it in "fortune" which
they say depend on "luck" which is wheter you like it or not, rationally and biblicaly not TRUE,
JUST and Righteous. They better ask God for Guidance and decerning what to do with their small money.

It is then I want to be a Venture Capitalist.

But Not just an Ordinary Venture Capitalist. I want to create a Corporation.
Specifically a Christian Venture Capitalists Corporation that is composed of
CHRIST followers to create a Firm that will lend a money for Business Starters
and provide them Good,excellent and righteous ideas and initiative for them to
apply in their business. We will also provide with our best IT products which will help
their Techno Business be patronized by the community.



You see? It is not new to us that their are many Venture Capitalist all around the globe na.
As you see in the picture their are so many eggs but I am that GOLD EGG! sa nakiata mo ako ang
GOLD, kaya ako ang mas mabenta!! ahahha wala na akong masabe!! pataka nalang kog estorya ani..hahah..

Ok,,bitaw, Seriously.. In this Unfair wolrd ruled by unfair people..We, i mean my business can
make a difference and change for the better good for the people in this earth.
I should make it sure that i will stand out amond VC's.
I should make it to the point that every business in the Country and even in the
whole wold will bring much benefit to their lives.
My business will provide Techno-business ideas for each risks taker people.
The good thing is it is not dual outcome but it an optimistic assessment and view
for the success of each business we will be lending.
My business will provide great and best It products that will really fit in their
business.We will make sure that the Technopreneur and the Consumer or Prosumer
rather will really have benefits and profit of their own justly in accordance with Christian Principles.
So that every needs and wants will be satisfied.

I hope i could really put up a corporation like this.

Your reflection/learning's on Technopreneurship 1 (at least 2000 words)

I really learned so much in Technopreneurship 1. I am confident during the first lessons because I thought I already knew the subject that much but not until it was taught and edified by our Facilitator Mr. Gamboa.
I was amazed that the world is really changing and the people are adaptive to it. From the two words combined “Technology” and “Entrepreneurship” which literally means business we can come up with the term “TECHNOPRENEURSHIP” a business with the application of technology.
During the first lessons the SEED model was introduced to us which very
significant in the field of business.

In creating a business, each Technopreneur should consider many things including his/her Best, Love and Irritancies. A technopreneur should also regard the people in the community- what is they want and need, the events and calamities in the society that can be summed up to opportunities. Many businesses now are arising for money-making purposes but it’s not just that, the need of the people in a certain society should be highly regarded.

We’ve had a film viewing entitled “THE PIRATES OF THE SILICON VALLEY” which depicts about the life story of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and what are their contributions in the computer industry. I was overwhelmed about the story of Steve Jobs. He was raised by poster parents who were not able to have their own child so they adopted him. He was born out of an unwed, young couple who were not ready to have him, so they decided to let him be adopted. He grew up being supported by his parents, but not all the time he was being supported fully in terms of financial phase. He struggled so much in his student life that it drive him to dropped out form his university and start thinking what would be the best to be done. He took up calligraphy after dropping out and then starts scrutinizing electrical and technical substances that leads him to create a masterpiece which is called “computer”. He is gifted. He is intelligent, self sufficient and confident. I think his family background really affect his character and attitude. He was determined to make something different, something great and something big. And there he goes! He really became successful. He was able to land a company “Apple” which is now a leading company and computer and high tech gadget supplier. He rapidly became a top technopreneur in a very short time, perhaps it is because he was so determined to make a difference and it really does clicked in the word of technopreneurship. He was at the peak of his success when it suddenly brought him down. He was fired up form his own company due to his own folly. He was fried in his own oil. When the time that Steve Jobs was on his edge, Bill Gates came into the scene. He was so wise that he stole some ideas and creations that are not his (including those of Steve Jobs) and claiming it’s his masterpiece. Bravo for Him! Because of that he became the richest man in the world. Their story is like a marry-go-round. Well, the miseries of Steve Jobs did not last not long. He swiftly goes up, he rapidly go down, now he rose up again and now being one of the most successful Technopreneur in the whole wide world. Surely, I can say that he had a very interesting life.

During also in our previous lessons in Technopreneurship 1, we were tested about our individual personality traits. We were required to get an examination about EQ, IQ, and AQ.
EQ stands for Emotional Quotient which tests us about our emotion towards circumstances, people and events. Of course IQ which stands for Intelligence Quotient which test and tell about a person’s intellectual capacities and capabilities. It assess about your knowledge that can be either general information or logical aptitudes and solving mathematical equations. And lastly AQ which stands for Adversity Quotient that test about how to respond and how to react in a certain situation. This assessment tells about how you deal with situation when are present and how to respond in every adverse happening and an extremely unfavorable experience or event.
Definitely, the result of my Emotional Quotient is high that stresses that I can be a good business owner and employer someday. In my Intelligence Quotient I got an average score which depicts that I am not good in generating new ideas, that means I should hire some smart men and let them think and to my weak part for the improvement and success of my future company. In my Adversity Quotient, I got also a high score which means, I can easily cope up with various situations against people or circumstances.

We were also required to create business ideas and make a proposal for it, make a slideshow and present it to the class. For how many times we were rejected. We really tried our bests, together with my group mates, we let our magical imagination imagine and think of a business that will really click in the future and would really catch the attention of every customer. I really admit it was so hard and difficult for us. Then as weeks and months go by, we were blessed by the LORD that our proposal was immediately approved by our Facilitator and he liked it! He liked our “I See Blind Stick” which is a walking stick intended for blinds. It will guide them and has a voice command when tells when to turn, left or right. It is automated to look for free spaces to be passed by and detects barriers or such big stones that is blocking the way, so I guess it is so very useful.

So in totality, I had really a great time last semester. I had enjoyed a lot. I like our Facilitator facilitates us. And I think I have much to show what I’ve got and what I have learned in Techno 1. Hope that I could really pertain it in my Future Technopreneur corn field by the help of the MOST HIGH, Heavenly Father. weeeeehhh! Thank you LORD JESUS.
